NAIROBI TO BE A NO-GO ZONE ON MADARAKA DAY!! AS RAILA SAYS THIS
Ayisi went on to explain that wa Ngunjiri’s application to have the park for her church’s crusade had not been processed, because the outfit had paid the park fee before City Hall could confirm availability of the venue.
The official went on to state that Nairobi county government shall be involved in the Cord rally.
“This is a national event and we will celebrate it like other counties where we will have the county commissioner lead the event and invite the governor Evans Kidero,” said Ayisi.
Earlier during the weekend, Kidero had stated that he was only aware of the rally by Cord as having been cleared.
On Sunday, May 29, 2016, Raila had stated that the Cord rally had been misunderstood as a way of undermining the government.
This is because President Uhuru Kenyatta will be leading a parallel celebration at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.
Speaking in Mombasa, Raila said the planned rally has caused a lot of controversy because its intentions have been mistaken.
He stated that Cord had no intention to cause chaos or violence in Nairobi during the rally that is expected, but that they will “pray for truth, justice and reconciliation.”
Raila went ahead to state that they will also pray for President Uhuru Kenyatta and hid deputy William Ruto.
“There has been a misconception that we intend to disrespect the government, disrespect the day and desecrate on it. Nothing could be further from the truth,” he said as reported by Citizen TV, adding that “there should be no form of confrontation over the issue. We are saddened by a plot by some people to deny Kenyans their right to meet and remember where they are and share in the message of unity.”
